• Actaea racemosa:Due to potential hormonal effects that stimulate uterine tissue and bring on menstruation, there is a theoretical risk of miscarriage when used orally. There is insufficient reliable evidence for use in labour induction so we recommend avoid use. Similarly with lactation, the hormonal effects of black cohosh may adversely affect a nursing child and therefore we recommend to avoid use.
• Melissa officinalis: Whilst not specifically contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation, there is insufficient reliable evidence so we recommend to avoid use.
• Humulus lupulus: Whilst not specifically contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation, there is insufficient reliable evidence so we recommend to avoid use.
• Crocus sativus: Considered likely unsafe when used orally in amounts exceeding those commonly found in foods due to uterine stimulation and abortifacient effects. Therefore we recommend to avoid use. In lactation there is insufficient reliable evidence for safety so we recommend to avoid use.
