Magnesium citrate is a highly bioavailable and well-researched form. Glycine is included in MagRelax® at a clinically validated therapeutic dose. To get the same glycine dose using magnesium glycinate, you'd need a significantly higher magnesium intake, which would almost certainly cause gastrointestinal side effects like diarrhoea. MagRelex® allows you to get the full benefits of both ingredients without overloading the system, or underdosing the glycine.

Give Back Health Clinic Collection MagRelax® contains only three ingredients: magnesium citrate and glycine (plus a tiny amount of colloidal anhydrous silica for manufacturing purposes). Glycine is naturally sweet, which gives MagRelex® its mild taste. No sweeteners or flavours have been added. the answer to the question here.

Yes, but with a small caveat. While the magnesium component remains stable in warm drinks, glycine can degrade when exposed to high heat. If you're adding it to a warm beverage, avoid boiling water and drink it soon after mixing for best effect. Our recommendation is add to room temperature or cold water and consume immediately.

Give Back Health Clinic Collection MagRelax® is suitable for both day and night use. Choose the timing that best supports your needs (or both).

  • Two pack sizes: 160g (30 day supply), 400g (75 day supply).
  • Magnesium (Mg2+) is a vital micronutrient and co-factor or activator of a huge number of reactions in the body. Low magnesium status has been shown to correlate with poor mental health.
  • Magnesium functions synergistically with glycine, supporting nervous system health and protecting neurons from inflammation.
  • Magnesium modulates neuroinflammation through interactions with NMDA receptors.
  • Magnesium improves symptoms of mild to moderate depression.
  • Magnesium modulates neuroexcitation and optimises neurotransmitter function.
  • Glycine is a conditionally essential amino acid which acts rapidly in the central nervous system to inhibit excitation. As there is no regulation over its uptake, including glycine in formulations is beneficial, particularly when the brain is under excitatory overload (e.g. conditions such as depression, acute stress, drug use and extreme insomnia).
  • Glycine crosses the blood brain barrier by passive diffusion and, unlike taurine, uptake is not limited by receptor site availability. L-glycine has no inhibition of uptake, so what you consume can be quickly absorbed into the body and in turn quickly have a calming effect on the central nervous system (CNS).
  • Glycine provides effective antiinflammatory actions in the CNS.
  • Glycine supports sleep onset, duration, quality and architecture.

  • Suitable for use alongside most medications.
  • Levodopa/carbidopa: Magnesium can reduce the bioavailability of levodopa/carbidopa. These ingredients should not be taken together.

At Give Back Health, we follow a conservative risk/benefit approach and recommend healthcare practitioners assess use on a case-by-case basis, depending on individual patient needs, context and response to treatment.

  • Magnesium: Likely safe in pregnancy and lactation when used appropriately. The Natural Medicines Database rates oral magnesium intake up to 350 mg/day as safe within this population. MagRelax® delivers 350 mg per 5.3 g scoop.
  • Glycine: While Glycine is not specifically contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation, there is insufficient reliable evidence so we recommend a risk/benefit approach to use.
  • Mix 1 level scoop (5.3 g) into water and consume immediately. Suitable for use during the day or take 30 minutes before bed to enhance refreshing sleep.
  • The common dosage range for magnesium is 350 – 700 mg/day
  • The common dosage range for glycine is 3 – 9 g/day

Glycine has a very quick onset. Individuals should experience a calming effect within 30 minutes (for nervous system excitation and sleep benefits). For other benefits, results are generally seen within 2-4 weeks, with further improvement by 8-12 weeks.

Give Back Health Clinic Collection MagRelax® is a clean formula free from flavours, sweeteners or commonly used excipients. It is an ultra-low excipient formulation with minimal low-to-no allergen excipients (e.g. glycine, colloidal anhydrous silica). Check the ingredient and excipients list for a complete breakdown. Give Back Health Clinic Collection MagRelax® is most commonly used alongside our NAC, L-Theanine, Nicotinamide Riboside (NR), Saffron + Zinc, RejuveGen®, Mood-D and Sleepatonin® for additional support, depending on clinical goals.

Yes. MagRelax® is often used in combination with complementary nutrients and products, such as:

  • L-Theanine
  • Zinc Picolinate
  • Taurine (e.g. MagRegulate®)
  • Saffron (e.g. affron®)
  • NAC or NR for mitochondrial support
  • Sleepatonin®

When building a protocol, consider total magnesium intake and avoid overlapping ingredients if already present in other formulas.

MagRegulate® is sister product to MagRelax®. Use MagRelax® to relax and nurture the central nervous system (CNS) when under excitation. Use MagRegulate® to regulate a range of processes and systems once the CNS is relaxed and more receptive to taurine.

  • Taurine has many roles in the body, but one essential and often over looked one it its role as a major antioxidant in our brains.
  • When the brain is under high antioxidant stress, taurine helps reduce oxidation through multiple mechanisms (including reducing glutamate and inflammation) to protect our brains from neuronal damage. Here, Taurine is pushed out of the brain into the extracellular space so it can work its magic across multiple pathways.
  • What this results in though is an increased concentration of taurine in the extracellular space and a resulting inhibition of absorption from supplementation or dietary intake. The body thinks it has a sufficient quantity, when actually it has just moved from where it was to protect the brain from neuronal damage.
  • In these instances of high oxidative stress in the brain (e.g. alcoholism, drug use, serious mental health presentations) we will get better therapeutic results for our clients supplementing with Glycine (MagRelax®) instead of taurine (MagRegulate®) (for antioxidant, CNS inhibitory and anti inflammatory effects) to allow the body and CNS to normalise, and then once it is normalised, we can supplement again with Taurine (MagRegulate®) (which will be absorbed as we are no longer impacted by the negative feedback loop) so taurine can have its profound therapeutic effects.

Yes. MagRelax® contains only magnesium citrate and glycine, with no flavours, fillers or sweeteners, which makes it generally well tolerated. As with all magnesiums, some patients may experience mild softening of stools at full-dose levels due to the magnesium citrate, so it may be useful to start with a lower dose and build gradually.
